About

Helen Valentina dancewear was started in 2002 by Helen - a graduate of the Melbourne College of Textiles and her sister Valentina, making Bridal dresses and Debutant gowns.

In 2004, Helen Valentina started making costumes for the ballroom world after Helen’s sons’ dance partner needed a ballroom gown. This young couple won an Australian title that year in their category wearing that very first gown. In 2005 Helen took over the business and decided to concentrate on dancewear. Her keen eye for design and colour, together with years of experience sewing in stretch fabric, has seen many breathtaking costumes take to the dancefloor. She has made countless costumes for some of Australia’s top Ballroom, New Vogue and Latin dancers, as well as many Jazz and Salsa performance costumes and has dressed some of Australia’s top Salsa dancers.

Helen Valentina has dressed Australian Ballroom Latin finalist Siobhan Power, Australian Professional finalist Julie Jones, and Master Latin Open Champion Yvette Rousseau just to name a few.

Current 2018-2019 dancers include Australian representatives at the 2018 World WDSF Championships in Austria, Sheree Selemba and Julian Tsotsos, 2018 Australian New Vogue Champion Monique Saville, 12 x Australian Salsa Champion and runner up World solo Cha Cha finalists Elysia Baker and Australian Male Salsa Champion and 2018 World Solo finalist Pedro Gonzalez.

Helen Valentina offers made to measure and off the rack costumes as well as practice wear and dance supplies from our studio in Greensborough.
